The “IM-FPB 33-SAR", of which the first was named Natale De Grazia, is the biggest self-righting and unsinkable fast patrol boat ever built in Italy and consists of three Fast Patrol Boats (FPBs), especially suitable for Search & Rescue operations (SAR) even in the most challenging meteorological and marine conditions, designed and built for the Italian Coast Guard.
Excellence of the Italian shipbuilding industry and a proud example of the Country maritime capabilities, the “IM-FPB 33-SAR” expands the operating capabilities of the Coast Guard fleet and has been designed and developed to perform the vital task assigned to the Coast Guard by history and by law.
Designed by Intermarine according to the standards set by the Italian Naval Register (RINA) Classification Society and made of light alloy, the vessel has a deep V hull shape with excellent maneuverability and a good behavior in all sea conditions (unrestricted navigation), both at high and low speed.
The boat is equipped with two diesel engines, each driving a steerable waterjet, for achieving a speed in excess of 30 knots.
Two diesel generators, 85kW each, ensure the power supply onboard. It’s mission suite includes:
The main features are a significant operational range, accommodation for 10 crew members and a wide covered space equipped with a suitable sick bay for first aid, available for hosting up to 50 rescued persons.
Because of the high flexibility of the Intermarine design, the “CP420 Class” can however be outfitted with different engines, armament and electronic equipment, and also be tailored for different spaces distribution, according to the specific requirements of each and every Customer.
Low maintenance costs, excellent seaworthiness and sea-keeping, sustained high speed, are some of the major qualities of this vessel, which - for the concept of the design and for the shape of the hull - appears especially suitable for the service intended.
